ham par tumhari  chaah ka ilzam hi to hai

dushnam to nahīñ hai ye ikrām hī to hai

‘Adoring you’ is what I stand accused for

Nothing bad in it, but honor it is after all!!

 

karte haiñ jis pe ta.an koī jurm to nahiñ

shauq-e-fuzull o ulfat-e-nakam hi to hai

It is no crime which I am being taunted for

Futile pursuit, feeble love it is after all

 

dil muddai ke harf-e-malamat se shaad hai

ai jan-e-jañ ye harf tira naam hi to hai

My heart brims (with joy) with her critical words

Oh beloved, this word is your name after all!

 

dil na-umid to nahi ñ nakam hi to hai

lambi hai ġham ki  shaam magar shaam hi to hai

Hopeless my heart is not, it is only helpless after all

Long is the night of grief but it is just a night after all!

 

dast-e-falak meñ gardish-e-taqdir to nahiñ

dast-e-falak meñ gardish-e-ayyām hī to hai

the wheel of destiny is not in hands  of  cosmos

cosmos holds only wheel of life after all!

 

aḳhir to ek roz karegi nazare vafa

vo yar-e-ḳhush-ḳhisal sar-e-bam hi to hai

one day beloved will return gaze full of love

that beloved is ever over head looking after all

 

bhigi hai raat 'faiz' ġhazal ibtida karo

vaqt-e-sarod dard ka hangama hi to hai

Oh Faiz! The night is beating down! Start the song

This turmoil of the moment; is of pain after all!

  Aaye kuch abr kuch sharaab aaye Uske baad aaye jo azaab aaye Let some respite, some drink may come! Then after Whatever calamity may come!
